EasyTatt temporary tattoos are the new way to avoid tattoo regret

MILLIONS of Aussies now have tattoos, but one in four saying they regret it. So an Adelaide man has figured out a way to help others avoid that mistake.

How to apply an EasyTatt Temporary tattoo

WITH one in five Australians now rocking a tattoo and one in four saying they regret getting inked, Pascal Ward saw an opportunity to help prevent others from making more permanent mistakes.

So he founded EasyTatt, an online temporary tattoo business which allows users to test out their chosen design before they get inked for real.

There are around 7000 different designs to choose from on the website, from tattoo artists all around the world, or you can upload your own and get it created into a temporary tatt. The artists earn 15 per cent commission on their designs.

Customers order the tattoos online and they arrive along with a bottle of EasyMatte liquid, which removes the shine from the skin. After applying the tattoo, the liquid is slathered over the top.

“The liquid takes the shine away, which is the telltale sign of a temporary tattoo, and gives it an ultra-realistic look,” Mr Ward, 26, from Adelaide, told news.com.au.

The tattoo lasts around 10 days and the user can get a feel for what it would be actually like to walk around with that design inked on their body.

Mr Ward believes this “try before you buy” technique could prevent the inevitable tattoo regret many Australians experience.

“Many tattoo artists are busy people or you might book in with a famous artist whose work you really admire. Sometimes you can’t get an appointment for six months,” Mr Ward said.

“When you get a tattoo they draw the design using a stencil on your first, and they follow that pattern with the [tattoo gun]. Those can take hours and some people feel like when the stencil is done but they don’t like it, it’s too late to say no. We want to make it easy for people to test drive for a fraction of the cost, and a lifetime commitment.

“A lot of people come to us and they know what they want, but they’re not sure about the size or the placement. They know they want it but they’re not sure if they want it to be 10cm or 12cm. I think that’s another really handy part of our service,” he said.

EasyTatt launched in March 2016 but the website and extended design database was made available this year.

News.com.au tested some of the products and found while the coloured tattoos were easily recognised as temporary, the black and white designs were indistinguishable from real tattoos.

Mr Ward hopes his business will also help prevent the thousands of Australians who are forced to undergo laser treatment to remove their tattoos.

The process is expensive, painful, and often the tattoo is never properly removed. There are hundreds of laser clinics around the country offering tattoo laser removal services, but each use different types and strengths of lasers, with varying results.
