IT CLAIMS to give you an “instant nose job” in just 30 seconds, but a leading doctor warns young people about the dangers of using the plastic devices.

IT CLAIMS to give you an “instant nose job” in 30 seconds, but a leading doctor has warned young women about the dangers of using temporary “nose lift” devices.

The Nose Lifter is a device inserted into the nose to “perfect” its size and shape.

“It can fix a variety of nasal shape problems including but not limited to: flat noses, wide and bulbous noses, hook noses, droopy noses, crooked noses, flaring nostrils, upturned noses, dorsal humps, side humps and many others,” the product description reads.

“Unlike popular devices that does not work or will take months before reshaping can take place, Nose Lifter guarantees an instant dramatic results in just 30 seconds.”

The device has gained popularity after Filipino YouTube vlogger Raiza Contawi posted a how-to video on her channel late last year.

But Professor Richard Harvey, head of rhinology at UNSW and Macquarie University, says using this device repeatedly could cause permanent damage to your nose.

“It’s putting pressure on the cartilage framework of the nose. It’s being manipulated ... it’s stretching and distorting it and putting pressure on the lining of the nose,” Prof Harvey told news.com.au.

“So even if you tolerate it at the time, repeated use could result in an ulcer. It’s a little bit like that gel you apply around the eyelids that tightens the skin and evens out your wrinkles. it’s a one-off trick that’s unlikely to be sustainable long term.”

There’s also the possibility that it could “dislodge”, go down the back of the nose and be inhaled.

“If people really have concerns about the shape and function of their nose they should see a doctor who deals with cosmetic treatments,” Prof Harvey said. “They can educate you about the pros and cons of such treatment.”
