Beauty Diary: Abbie Chatfield sparks rush for $55 acne product
A Sydney small business owner was blown away when Abbie Chatfield gave her an unexpected shout out, sparking a flurry of sales.
Abbie Chatfield has sparked a mad rush for a $55 acne product after revealing it “fixed” her bad skin, netting the Australian creator a cool $30,000 in the process.
The former Bachelor contestant revealed tbh Skincare’s Acne Hack Cream helped her immensely when she was having a “tough time” during a cystic acne breakout.
Abbie, who previously partnered with the Sydney-based beauty brand in 2020, gave tbh a shoutout during her Hot Nights With Abbie Chatfield radio show, sparking a flurry of orders in the hours that followed.
The brand’s co-founder Rachael Wilde told news.com.au’s The Beauty Diary she was stunned when The Masked Singer panellist told listeners about her product as their contract had long expired.
“It was actually incredibly nice of her to give us a shout out,” she explained.
“I was honestly shocked when I heard it and couldn’t believe she continues to recommend us more than a year on from when she officially worked with us.”
Rachael explained it had taken a bit of time to previously convince Abbie to try the acne treatment, but once she did, she was blown away with the results.
“We worked with Abbie initially when she first came off the Bachelor. She was sharing her unfiltered experience with breakouts on her Instagram, which was rare for influencers to do that the time, so immediately we loved her authentic approach and knew that her audience trusted her immensely,” she said.
“It actually took a while to convince Abbie to try the products. I literally told her management to ‘just get her to try this one product, I swear it’s going to work’.
“Once she tried it, she loved it and saw genuine results with the product, so a formalising the partnership was just a natural next step.”
After Abbie’s recent on-air mention, Rachael decided to create a TikTok video showing her “blind reacting” to the product shout out – which further fuelled shopper rush.
“I actually went to sleep (after posting) and it was only when I woke up the next morning that I saw the amazing response on the video,” she told The Beauty Diary.
“The video went viral and ended up driving lots of sales, earning over $33,000 and selling more than 500 products.”
The $55 acne hack cream can be used as either a spot or full face treatment and can be added to any skincare routine after cleanser and before moisturiser, Rachael explained.
“Abbie’s consistent use over time gave her the exact results she was looking for,” she added.
“We are SO happy for Abbie and so many other customers!”
Photos of Abbie’s results which were previously shared back in 2020 were described by Australians as “unreal” and “impressive”.
On the radio segment, Abbie said her breakouts had made her “sad”, adding she had a “really hard time” with her cystic acne.
“The product that helped me ‘fixed’ it, tbh Skincare have this cream, and it helped my skin become ‘normal’.”
