The public have officially crowned pole dance teacher Bailey Hart Australia’s Hottest Ginger.

Ms Hart, who teaches at the Suzie Q Pole Studio in North Parramatta, took out the People’s Choice Award with almost 12,000 votes after months of fierce competition in the Buderim Ginger contest.

“I was really surprised when I found out that I’d won, because it had been a really close competition between me and the girl in second place,” she said.

Members of the community have also supplied her with extra prizes to add to the raffle, which she will draw on March 20 at a pole dance competition in Melbourne.

“It’s been so wonderful to have the pole dance community band together to vote for me every day and support my fundraising,” Ms Hart said.

Ms Hart plans to return to Borneo in 2016 to work with the endangered species, and is also organising a ‘Swing Free’ fundraiser, combining her love of freestyle movement with her love of orang-utans.

Although she acknowledges that being a ‘ranga’ has its fair share of difficulties, Ms Hart has always adored her hair colour and never needed to win a competition to know it.

“I’ve always felt validated as a ginger so nothing much has changed since winning the title,” she said.

“It’s just a fun, silly competition but it embraces individuality and has given me a platform to raise awareness for a cause I really care about. ”

Fellow contestants Michael Collie and dog Chilli took out the gongs for Hottest Ginger Mo and Hottest Ginger Pet, while the judge’s choice winners will be announced at an Buderim Ginger event in Brisbane this week and awarded a one year modelling contract.
