Aldi apologises for ‘packaging fault’: Coles deodorant can wrapped in Aldi packaging
THE supermarket has apologised for a “packaging fault” in one of its products, which resulted in a Coles deodorant can being wrapped in Aldi packaging.
DISCOUNT supermarket Aldi has apologised after customers complained about a shoe deodorising spray that appeared to be a Coles women’s deodorant can repackaged with a different label.
Customers on Aldi’s Facebook page and a user on Reddit posted images of the plastic label, which was removed to reveal a can of Coles Cool Fresh antiperspirant for women, underneath.
“My shoe deodoriser from Aldi is actually just a Coles women’s antiperspirant with a plastic label,” wrote Reddit user cl3ft yesterday.
“Bought a Aldi shoe spray yesterday and today took the label off and it’s a Cole’s women sensitive spray. What is this about?” one woman wrote on Facebook.
An Aldi spokeswoman said the product has been withdrawn from sale and the error is being investigated.
“We can confirm the product is a shoe deodoriser and the content is true to the ALDI packaging,” the spokeswoman told news.com.au, describing the incident a “packaging fault”.
“Customers can continue to use the product for its stated purpose, however they are also welcome to return it to their local store for a full refund. We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” she said.
“Aldi is deeply committed to providing our customers with safe products of the highest
quality and we have a stringent quality assurance and testing program in place. We work
closely with our suppliers to meet the quality specifications Australians have come to
expect.”
