A model who has graced the covers of Maxim and Sports Illustrated has made a major change after years of pain.

A Victoria’s Secret model has revealed she has taken out her breast implants after more than a decade.

Joy Corrigan has graced the covers of Maxim and Sports Illustrated, starred in films, was a former Playboy Playmate and walked the Victoria’s Secret runway.

But now she has revealed that she had her breast implants removed after experiencing years of migraines and fatigue.

Joy never opened up about having implants but knew she needed to get them out when she began to feel ill.

Although breast implant illness is not formally recognised in Australia, there has been anecdotal evidence to suggest women can face everything from chronic fatigue, pain and brain fog to the development of auto-immune diseases.

Symptoms such as leaky gut, depression, insomnia, thyroid issues and frequent infections have also been attached to the illness.

“My journey to health is about to begin. Implants are basically killing me,” she said in a raw TikTok video.

“Something inside me feels wrong. I don’t feel healthy. I’m afraid of how it’ll change my life.”

She revealed she’d had the implants for 12 years and it was scary to think that her identity was linked to her implants for so long.

Joy said she was super insecure about being flat-chested, and thought the implants would guarantee her more work in the modelling industry.

Now, she knows it was a pressure to have unrealistic beauty standards that led her down this path.

“I just want to be myself again – my natural self – and I am learning to love that part of myself, and this is part of that journey,” she said.

Joy had her implants removed at a clinic in Florida. The 35-year-old had her mother and tech executive boyfriend Ted Dhanik, 46, by her side.

The procedure went smoothly and Joy joked she had “no boobies” anymore while still coming out of the anaesthesia fog.

But, a day after surgery, she said she felt much better and promised her fans an update on her healing process.
