NOW here’s a guy who knows how to make the trains run on time.

A New York conductor has made an extraordinary apology to passengers after telling them their train would turn up when it never did.

Conductor Michael Shaw left his apologetic note, which took up an entire sheet of A4 paper, on more than 500 seats, Gawker reports.

“When I heard the news (the train wasn’t coming) I was shocked and furious, and I still am,” Mr Shaw wrote. “I am as sick of apologising to you as you are hearing it.

“Like I tell my kids it’s OK to apologise for something, but it’s even more important not to let it happen again.

“I will never make this mistake again and I know how embarrassed and truly sorry myself and my crew are for this unacceptable incident.

“Truly very sorry,” the conductor wrote, signing off with his Twitter handle @Shawdogs65 at the end.

In his spare time, Mr Shaw also tweets popular public transport-related memes including: “CHAMPIONS TRAIN. LOSERS COMPLAIN”.
