JOBS are on the increase, with online employment provider Seek reporting a 2.5 per cent ad growth year on year.
The ACT, which is up 12.6 per cent this July compared to July 2015, led the positivity.
South Australia (up 11.9 per cent), New South Wales (up 7.5 per cent) and Victoria (up 5 per cent) also experienced growth, figures from seek.com.au revealed.
WA, on the other hand, continued to lose job vacancies, down 19.9 per cent year-on-year.
Seek Employment managing director Michael Ilczynski said despite the falls, the WA jobs market revealed an improving trend in July.
“Our Seek trend data suggests that labour demand in WA may be stabilising, which would be good news for the overall Australian economy and jobs market,” Ilczynski said.
“Another encouraging sign for WA is that we’re seeing an uptick in the mining, resources and energy sector. From May to July 2016, job ads on SEEK rose 4 per cent when compared to the same period last year.”
NATION’S TOP-PAYING INDUSTRIES REVEALED
BITTER TASTE OF EMPLOYMENT PROBLEM
In Queensland, advertising is slightly lower year on year, down 3.7 per cent.
Northern Territory and Tasmanian job ads were down 1.8 per cent and 1 per cent, respectively.
Nationally in July, the biggest advertising industries were information and communication technology (ICT), trades and services, and healthcare and medical.
“The most in-demand skills on Seek for the ITC industry at present are security, telecommunications and software engineering,” Mr Ilczynski said.
“However, we’ve seen demand cool off for consultants, web development and production, database development and administration, IT sales and testing, and quality assurance positions.”
