ONE of Donald Trump’s former girlfriends has lashed out at a recent report alleging the billionaire businessman made “unwelcome romantic advances” towards women in the past.

Rowanne Brewer Lane, who dated Trump in 1990, has publicly blasted a lengthy New York Times article, which ran on their front page on Saturday, claiming the publication distorted her words.

“I’m extremely upset. Basically, they lied to me,” the former model told Inside Edition. “They promised me multiple times that it would not be a hit piece, and clearly it was.”

The Times report, titled ‘Crossing the Line’, details a 1990 pool party at Trump’s Mar-A-Lago estate in Florida where he and Ms Brewer Lane first met. The article claims Trump asked the then-26-year-old model to put on a bikini after first being introduced to her.

“He took me into a room and opened drawers and asked me to put on a swimsuit,” the article reads.

When she emerged by the pool, he remarked, “Now, that’s a stunning Trump girl, isn’t it?”

The real estate tycoon, then 44, was in the middle of a divorce from his first wife Ivana at the time.

But Ms Brewer Lane says she wasn’t offended by the encounter, which The Times called “a debasing face-to-face encounter.”

Speaking to Fox & Friends, she confirmed the pair dated for several months and said, “he never made me feel like I was being demeaned in any way. He never offended me in any way. He was very gracious. I saw him around all types of people, all types of women. He was very kind, thoughtful, generous, you know. He was a gentleman.”

Asked whether the Republican presidential candidate ever mistreated women, Ms Brewer Lane said, “Not that I’ve ever seen. Absolutely without a doubt, no.”

She added: “He was a very good guy, Donald, and I think he’s doing a good job in this race and I think that some people have a problem with that.”

Another woman quoted in the article is former Miss Utah, Temple Taggart. According to the Times, Taggart was competing in the 1997 Miss USA pageant, and was “startled by how forward he was with young contestants like her.”

“He kissed me directly on the lips. I thought, ‘Oh my God, gross’,” she told the publication.

“I think there were a few other girls that he kissed on the mouth. I was like, ‘Wow, that’s inappropriate’.”

Trump has disputed the kissing claim. “A lot of things get made up over the years,” he told the Times. “I have always treated women with great respect.”

The revealing article was based on 50 interviews with women associated with Trump over the past four decades.
