Salim Mehajer allegedly linked to NRMA fraud
NSW police have confirmed that they are investigating insurance claims made by controversial former Auburn deputy mayor Salim Mehajer’s companies referred to them by NRMA insurance.
CONTROVERSIAL former Auburn deputy mayor Salim Mehajer could be in trouble with the law yet again.
On Wednesday, police confirmed that they were investigating insurance claims made by Mehajer’s companies referred to them by NRMA insurance.
“The NSW police force has recently received referrals relating to reported fraudulent comprehensive vehicle insurance claims,” a spokeswoman said.
“Investigations into these matters are now under way.”
NRMA Insurance is yet to respond to The Daily Telegraph’s questions about the nature of the claims.
Incredibly, this is Mehajer’s second brush with the law this week.
On Monday, he missed a court date in the Downing Centre Local Court on charges of allegedly assaulting a taxi driver and stealing his EFTPOS machine and phone because he was in a car accident.
The colourful businessman had to be cut free by rescue workers with the jaws of life, and Mehajer spent the day in Westmead hospital instead of court.
On Tuesday, his lawyer was forced to procure a medical certificate showing he was unfit to attend court.
Mr Mehajer denies wrongdoing.
