Republican convention live: Kimberly Guilfoyle, Donald Trump Jr, Nikki Haley speak

A former right-wing TV host has baffled viewers at the Republican convention by inexplicably bellowing through her entire speech.

If you were following our coverage of the Democratic convention last week, you know the drill. A bunch of Republican politicians are going to spend the next four days talking about how great President Donald Trump is and how Joe Biden will ruin everything if he wins the election.

Mr Trump was officially re-nominated by the Republican Party early this morning AEST, and he celebrated by briefly addressing the convention. Well, I say briefly. It was supposed to be a quick appearance, but he ended up speaking for 50 minutes.

"We have to win. Our country is counting on it. This is the biggest - this is it. Our country can go in a horrible, horrible direction or in an even greater direction. And before the plague came in from China, that's where we were going. We were going in a direction like we had never seen," Mr Trump said.

The highest profile speakers on day one of the convention were former South Carolina governor and United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley and the President's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. We were also expecting to hear from that rich couple who waved guns at Black Lives Matter protesters outside their mansion.
