Tiffany Trump has issued a cryptic response to the uproar over her father’s alleged comments about her weight gain.

Tiffany, 25, posted a quote to her Instagram stories by the ancient philosopher Rumi amid claims by a close aide that Donald Trump was embarrassed by his daughter’s weight.

The 25-year-old, the only child of the US President and his second wife Marla Maples, posted a quote that appeared to urge the viewer to look beyond the superficial.

“Study me as much as you like, you will never know me,” she posted.

“For I differ a hundred ways from what you see me to be.

“Put yourself behind my eyes, and see me as I see myself. Because I have chosen to dwell in a place you can’t see.”

It comes after the US President’s personal assistant Madeleine Westerhout was forced to resign from her White House job on Thursday having bragged to reporters she had a better relationship with Trump than his own daughters Ivanka and Tiffany and that he did not like being seen in pictures with Tiffany because he perceived her to be overweight.

The comments were said to have been made at an off-the-record dinner on August 17.

She reportedly also said that Trump “couldn’t pick Tiffany out of a crowd.”

Trump described the comments as “absolutely false”.

The US President appeared to go into damage control, telling reporters he loved his second-born daughter.

According to The Sun, he said: “She’s going to be calling me when we get to Camp David.

“I love Tiffany. She’s a wonderful person and she studies hard.”

He praised Westerhout’s professionalism, saying she “always did a good job” but added her comments were “a little bit hurtful” to him.

He also made reference to Ms Westerhout’s “fully enforceable confidentiality agreement”, adding, “she is a very good person and I don’t think there would ever be reason to use it.”

Westerhout, 28, was seen as an important ‘gatekeeper’ for the President, who controlled outside advisers and who got access to Mr Trump.

In a 2018 interview with the Washington Post, Trump said: “Madeleine is the key. She’s the secret.”

In February this year Westerhout blasted an unknown person who leaked three months of Mr Trump’s calendar appointments to the press.

She wrote on Twitter at the time: “What these don’t show are the hundreds of calls and meetings @realDonaldTrump takes everyday.

“This POTUS is working harder for the American people than anyone in recent history.”

Trump married Maples in December 1993 but they divorced in 1999 having been separated for two years.

Tiffany was raised by her mum in California.
