New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern joins in nationwide Secret Santa

NEW Zealand’s prime minister Jacinda Ardern will give one lucky stranger a Christmas gift after signing up for a nationwide Secret Santa.

Who is Jacinda Ardern?

NEW Zealand’s prime minister will give one lucky stranger a Christmas gift this year after signing up for a nationwide Secret Santa.

Jacinda Ardern, 37, who became the country’s youngest prime minister in 150 years in October, tweeted: “So you may have noticed I don’t tweet especially often (I just lurk) but as a ridiculous lover of Christmas I couldn’t miss the chance to join the @nzsecretsanta movement.

She added: “Feel free to join in my over the top Christmas cheer.”

For the Secret Santa gift-giving, Twitter users are randomly assigned a person to buy a gift for.

Those involved must search for clues on the person’s Twitter profile, while contributors are also encouraged to tweet hints about the perfect gift.

While one person will receive a gift from Ms Ardern, another will have to give a gift to New Zealand’s new Prime Minister.

“I’ve just signed up for awesomeness at #nzsecretsanta. Cos our PM did. looks like fun, come play!” tweeted one.

Another wrote: “Gasp. What do you get the PM if you get her for #nzsecretsanta?”

NZ Secret Santa said there has been a large interest in signing up after Ms Ardern joined the event.
