Kanye West has confirmed he met with Donald Trump’s son-in-law as the rapper eyes a spot on the 2020 presidential ballot.
Jared Kushner had a private meeting with West last weekend in Colorado, according to The New York Times, where Mr Kushner was travelling with his wife, Ivanka Trump.
The rapper and clothing mogul had been camping with his family and flew to Telluride for the meeting, which was also attended by another senior White House adviser, but not West’s wife, Kim Kardashian West.
After the report, West confirmed the news on Twitter, saying he was willing to do an interview about the meeting and that the group had discussed a book about black capitalism.
“I’m willing to do a live interview with the New York Time (sic) about my meeting with Jared where we discussed Dr Claude Anderson’s book Powernomics,” he wrote.

West launched his presidential bid at a trainwreck campaign event last month, where he broke down in tears after revealing in a monologue about abortion that he and his wife considered not having their first child, North West.
He then flew to his ranch in Wyoming where launched a series of extraordinary attacks on his wife and her family in a series of tweets, sparking concerns for his mental health.
The 43-year-old has spoken publicly about his battles with bipolar disorder, and Kim Kardashian has asked the public to show him compassion and understanding.
According to The Washington Post, West has so far filed petitions to appear on the presidential ballots in 10 states so far, with Republican operatives involved in efforts in at least five of them.
His appearance as an independent could potentially disrupt the race between Mr Trump and Democrat candidate Joe Biden.
Despite publicly backing Mr Trump in 2016 and meeting with him in the White House in 2018, West more recently appeared to suggest he was no longer a supporter of the President, telling Forbes he was “taking the red hat off”.
But in another interview with Forbes earlier this month, he did not deny he was running a spoiler campaign designed to siphon votes from Mr Biden, saying he was “walking to win”.
On Tuesday, Mr Trump told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt that he had not talked with West about the campaign, Reuters reported. Last week, the President told reporters he had nothing to do with West’s presidential bid. “I like him. He’s always been very nice to me,” he said.
“(He’s) got a good heart, very good heart. No, I have nothing to do with him getting on the ballot. We’ll have to see what happens. We’ll see if he gets on the ballot. But I’m not involved.”
