Josh Frydenberg isolating ‘out of caution’ after Covid-19 case at Melbourne office

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg’s office has been closed and deep cleaned after one of his staff members tested positive to Covid-19.

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg is isolating “out of an abundance of caution” after one of his staff members contracted Covid-19.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, Mr Frydenberg said his electorate office in Melbourne’s Hawthorn East had been closed and deep cleaned after receiving the news late on Monday.

He has so far tested negative to the virus.

“At present, the staff members is yet to be contacted by Victorian Health and Human Services contact tracers, which would start the process to determine if my electorate office would be deemed an exposure site,” he wrote.

“However, out of an abundance of caution, my electorate office has been closed and has been deep cleaned, I have been tested for Covid-19 and the result was negative, I will be isolating until further notice.”

Mr Frydenberg said staff members who had been in contact with the infected person were also isolating and being tested.

Victoria recorded its highest daily case numbers on record on Tuesday with 1763 new cases as well as four deaths.
