Donald Trump tested for COVID-19 nearly once a day
Donald Trump’s press secretary has described him as “the most tested man in America”, with the US President revealing he has a COVID-19 test “on average” once a day.
Donald Trump has said he is tested for COVID-19 “on average” once a day.
“I (don’t) know about more than one,” the US President told reporters at a revived coronavirus press briefing on Tuesday.
“I do, on average, a test about every one day, two days. I don’t know of any time I’ve taken two tests in one day, but I could see that happening.”
Earlier, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Mr Trump was being screened for coronavirus as many as “multiple times a day”.
“As I’ve made clear from this podium, the President is the most tested man in America,” she told reporters.
“He’s tested more than anyone, multiple times a day, and we believe that he’s acting appropriately.”

Pressed for details, she added: “He’s tested often. I’m not going to read out exactly how many times he’s tested a day, but sometimes it is more than one time a day.”
After several people in the White House contracted COVID-19, the White House announced in May that Mr Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and other staffers who regularly interact with the President would be tested every day.

The US is ramping up testing capabilities as the country sees a resurgence in COVID-19 case, but even some Republicans have raised concerns about delays, Politico reports.
According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, there have been more than 48.6 million tests carried out in the US returning 4.5 million positive results.
The death toll, which includes confirmed and “probable” cases, stands at more than 141,000.
