Businessman slammed for Linkedin rant attacking ‘ethnic minority drivers’ but insists ‘I’m not racist’
LOUIS Stead claims he’s not racist after a shocking post on professional networking site LinkedIn sparked backlash.
A BUSINESSMAN suffered backlash on LinkedIn after posting about “ethnic minority drivers’ dangerous driving” in a rant about lane hogging.
But entrepreneur Louis Stead from London, claimed “I am not racist” in his shocking outburst to nearly 8000 followers, The Sun reports.
The 28-year-old property developer told how he asked several “ethnic minority” friends to remind their “not so British” families of the law in the UK.
After a backlash from almost 200 other LinkedIn users within just five hours of posting, Louis eventually deleted the post.
But he insists his comments were “100 per cent based upon fact”.
“I am fuming!” he said in the eight-paragraph rant. “I am sick to the back teeth of drivers, mostly van drivers or ethnic minority drivers in the UK hogging lane two and lane three or motorways or dual carriageways.
“If you are a van driver or you employ them, or if you are ethnic minority or know van drivers or ethnic minority drivers — please speak with them.
“There seems to be this innate sense of Britishness that is causing everybody to be politically correct and think that it may be racist to post such things. Well LinkedIn folk, I’m telling you. I am no racist.”
After removing the post due to the backlash from his 7715 followers on LinkedIn, Louis claimed he was deeply upset to have been “trolled” over the post and believes he was the victim of “bullying”.
He then gave examples of “ethnic minority” friends of his who had found the post funny and agreed with his sentiments.
“[The drivers] were ethnic minority and I have video footage of the front view of my car as well as the side view from a second camera,” he wrote.
“The other group, if you like, are white European so my posts are 100 per cent based upon fact, hence why I posted it. I wouldn’t just go and post something so specific if it wasn’t a specific range of individuals.
“I certainly am not racist, I was deeply upset with the fact that I was trolled by other professionals. I couldn’t believe how the fact of my post had been taken well out of context.
“These so-called intelligent professionals entirely bullied and trolled me. Very wrong.”
Mr Stead has been contacted for comment.
