KARL Stefanovic could barely control himself on air this morning over the thought of Salim Mehajer running for prime minister.

The controversial Auburn deputy mayor revealed his political ambitions overnight, saying he would love to go all the way to the top, telling Channel 9 it would be a “dream come true”.

“If brains were dynamite, he wouldn’t blow his ears off,” 2GB presenter Ray Hadley said.

“Let me just say that the deputy mayor of Auburn is suffering delusions of adequacy. If that’s the best we can do at Auburn, Paul Toole, the Local Government Minister, should today sack the entire council for electing this dope to be deputy mayor,” Hadley slammed while Karl laughed hysterically, even snorting at one point.

The outspoken broadcaster then took aim at Mr Mehajer’s “presidential-style address” with his wife Aysha standing directly behind him. “And she looked like she’d fair dinkum been frightened by something, her face was just cast in stone.

“I don’t know how much you’re spending on plastic surgery love, but drop off, it’s not worth it.”

The local councillor and property developer, who has faced allegations surrounding his business dealings, told 9 News during last night’s interview that despite not having “what it takes to be a superstar”, he would grab whatever opportunity came his way.

“I would like to start off by being in state, federal and I would like to make my way up to the very top spot. That would be my dream come true,” he said.

“I don’t believe I have what it takes to be a superstar but see what happens. If an opportunity knocks on my door I am always willing for a challenge.”

During the interview, Mr Mehajer also addressed allegations levelled against him in recent months.

He rejected claims he was part of a group of councillors dubbed the ‘super six’ who voted regularly in favour of each other’s business dealings.

“We never actually always vote together in the so-called super six,” he said. “If you look at the council records there are a number of times I have voted with the ‘poor four’ if I may call them that.”

When asked if he was doing “everything above board”, Mr Mehajer replied: “ Absolutely, but I would say I will do the best I can.”

He also refuted allegations he threatened the father of Lindt siege survivor Joel Herat, Bruce.

The personal trainer claimed Mr Mehajer threatened to “find out where you live and have your kids kidnapped” after he was asked to stop dropping weights inside a gym on September 16.

“Not only are these allegations false and misleading but they are sheer evil and un-Australian,’ he said.

Mr Mehajer first made headlines in August for his lavish wedding to bride Aysha, which featured a $50 million fleet of sports cars, four helicopters, a seaplane fly-by and 50 Harley Davidsons and led to the closure of an entire Auburn street, without council approval.

Local residents launched a petition calling for the deputy mayor to be sacked.

When questioned about the big day, and the controversy it caused Mr Mehajer said it was all done in the name of love.

“Not only did I show the world how a female should be treated but also it’s a lead up to my future brother-in-law’s (wedding). They got big shoes to fill in,” he added.
