David Cameron’s ‘hate’ comment caught on live microphone

WHAT is it with politicians and their hideous jokes? UK PM David Cameron has been caught out on a live microphone much like Australia’s Immigration Minister.

Dutton's tasteless climate change joke

WHAT is it with politicians and their terrible, terrible “jokes”?

On the same day that Immigration Minister Peter Dutton was caught on microphone with a tasteless and offensive joke about Pacific Island nations and climate change, the UK leader has made the same mistake backstage at a speech in Leeds.

“We just thought people in Yorkshire hated everyone else, we didn’t realise they hated each other so much,” he said to laugher in response.

Later, the Prime Minister laughed it off and said his comment was a “joke” about the number of devolution proposals in the region.

However Leeds city Council’s Labour Leader Judith Blake didn’t think so, saying: “If Mr Cameron visited Leeds more often, rather than for the occasional political stunt, he’d soon get to know that.”

While Mr Cameron’s gaffe is unlikely to be as damaging as Mr Dutton’s they’re not the only two who have been caught out by a live microphone in the vicinity.

President Obama came under fire from Republicans after French President Nicolas Sarkozy called Israel leader Benjamin Netanhyahu a “liar” to which Obama allegedly said “You’re fed up with him, but I have to deal with him more often than you.”

Former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown was also caught with a live microphone calling a Labour voter a “bigoted woman” after talking to her in the street.
