NBN to cut 500 jobs by June in huge company restructure
The National Broadband Network will slash 500 jobs by June, with “all business units” to be affected by the changes.
The National Broadband Network has announced it will slash its workforce by hundreds as it brings in changes to the “size and shape of the company”.
NBN Co confirmed to NCA NewsWire it expects around 500 people will be made redundant, around 10 per cent of current roles.
The redundancies are expected to be brought in by June 30 this year and “will affect all business units and most levels of the organisation” a spokesperson said.
“The majority of redundancies are expected to affect middle and senior management roles,” the spokesperson said.
“The company is seeking to preserve and grow field-based roles associated with its national fibre upgrade program and the ongoing upgrades to its fixed wireless and satellite network.”
Communications Minister Michelle Rowland has been contacted for comment.
More to come.
