‘I’m upset’: Jacob Elordi divides fans with new beard
Jacob Elordi might be one of Australia’s most successful exports and be the toast of Hollywood but there’s one thing he can’t seem to get away with.
COMMENT
Jacob Elordi is the kind of hot who can usually do no wrong. He is tall, dark and handsome, but something strange is happening – fans are actually divided over his fresh facial hair.
The 27-year-old Euphoria star, who is 6 foot 5 and taller than all the Hemsworth Brothers, stepped out in Morocco with a beard.
This should have been the ultimate power move.
It is no secret that Elordi is trying to move away from just being known for being on the teen HBO series Euphoria and those infamous Kissing Booth movies, and move into his leading man era.
He isn’t being subtle about it either.
He told GQ that The Kissing Booth movies were “ridiculous” and that he didn’t even want to be in them.
“I didn’t want to make those movies before I made those movies. Those movies are ridiculous. They’re not universal. They’re an escape,” he said.
It isn’t uncommon for stars to try and shake up their images to join the big leagues. Remember when Miley Cyrus got on an actual wrecking ball naked to prove her point?
Elordi shaking things up by growing a beard is pretty demure and subtle as far as transitions go. It was also a safe choice; beards are trendy.
Even Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, who is also known for chucking a football around, occasionally sports a beard.
George Clooney, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds have also been making them cool for years.
Facial hair being trendy is not new or groundbreaking or even shocking anymore.
Bizarrely the Brisbane local’s beard hasn’t just been getting rave reviews. Of course, there have still been rave reviews, it is Elordi, and he is gorgeous.
When photos of him with the beard emerged there was the usual fanfare. It is probably worth pointing out, though, that Elordi can be seen hanging out in New York City in a T-shirt and jeans with no remarkable changes about him, and fans will still lose it online.
“I’m going insane,” one declared.
“I really like the shaggy beard,” another fan wrote.
“Oh wow! Love it! So handsome,” one praised.
You get the gist. Bizarrely, though, not everyone loved the beard, and some fans were straight-up not impressed.
“He is a totally different man with a beard,” one wrote cryptically.
“Shave it,” another commanded.
“Hell no,” one fan complained.
“That beard is a disaster,” someone else said.
“He has aged 20 years,” another claimed.
People also posted crying emojis.
Others said he couldn’t play a teenager with the beard he was sporting, and therefore, the chances of a new season of Euphoria were diminishing.
One even said the beard made him look less like “himself,” which is a very dramatic statement, but there you go.

Someone cut straight to the chase and just commented, “I’m upset,” underneath a photo of bearded Elordi.
I certainly don’t think the reaction to his beard is cause for an alarm, but maybe it is proof that being tall and hot doesn’t mean you can get away with everything.
Just probably most things.
