Tradie essential recalled from Bunnings stores over electric shock risk

The worksite essential has been urgently recalled from 38 stores after safety concerns were raised.

A popular appliance used on worksites across the country has been urgently recalled over fears users could receive an electric shock.

The Ozito petrol inverter generator has been recalled from Bunning stores across Western Australia after it was found it did not comply with national electrical safety standards.

The product safety recall notice explained that the outlet socket had been wired incorrectly and if touched could spark an electric shock.

“The neutral wiring of the socket outlet has been wired incorrectly,” the notice said.

The electric shock could cause serious injury or even death.

Just 36 of the affected generators were sold in stores over the course of 2½ months from December 1, 2021 to February 16, 2022.

The remaining generators have been pulled from shelves across the 38 store locations.

People who purchased the generator can determine if it has been impacted by the recall by locating the model and batch number on the information label.

The model number is IGP-2018 and the batch number is 2021/06.

If it is found to be one of the recalled generators, the consumer should stop using the product and return it to Bunnings for a refund or replacement.

Alternatively, they can contact Ozito on 1800 069 486 or email enquiries@ozito.com.au to arrange for the generator to be rewired free of charge.
