Sydney restaurant hands food to customers with broom

A restaurant owner has resorted to bizarre measures to keep their door open during the Sydney lockdown without interaction with customers.

Restaurant's bizarre lockdown move

A restaurant in Sydney’s southwest has resorted to sliding meals to customers with a broom stick to safely distance themselves from human contact as the area is ravaged by Covid-19.

The region has become the epicentre of the city’s soaring outbreak, with the bizarre contactless delivery strategy caught on video by an entertained passer-by.

In the footage, a customer patiently waits outside the Good Wok Asian restaurant in Revesby on the weekend as his meal is placed in a white plastic tray and then pushed towards him by an employee with a broom.

The man removes the meal, grabs his change and the tray is spotted sliding back across a table and into the restaurant.

The delivery solution comes as NSW recorded 112 new local infections on Monday, the highest figure since the Bondi cluster emerged and spilt across the city.

Health authorities were forced to ramp up restrictions on Friday, but the number of new cases continued to soar as Premier Gladys Berejiklian conceded the citywide lockdown would need to be extended.

“Given where the numbers are, it is not likely, in fact, almost impossible for us to get out of lockdown on Friday,” she told reporters on Monday.

“We will be able to provide you further information as soon as that comes to hand

“The length of the lockdown will depend on our ability to come together and to follow the health advice across the state.”
