Oz Lotto $40 million jackpot drawn tonight, rises to $50 million

The lotto has gone unclaimed for yet another week meaning next week, a lucky lotto winner could see themselves bagging a whopping $50 million.

The Tricks and Hacks to Winning the Lottery

Millions of Aussies were hoping to hear their special numbers drawn in Oz Lotto’s $40 million jackpot tonight, but it wasn’t mean to be.

But there’s a silver lining, as the potential prize hits an eye-watering $50 million for next week’s draw 1321.

There were no division one winners and while no one entry across Australia had the seven winning numbers in a single game required to score the $40 million prize, 10 entries were one number off and instead each won a division two prize of $38,206.20.

In total, there were 646,591 winners across divisions two to seven in tonight’s draw who collectively took home more than $13.48 million in prize money.

The winning numbers in tonight’s draw, draw 1320, were 2, 22, 4, 28, 18, 9 and 17, while the supplementary numbers were 32 and 23.

Up to one in five Australians were estimated to have bought an entry for the staggering prize with Draw 1320 closing at 7.30pm AEST tonight.

Last week, more than 500,000 individual prize winners pocketed more than $11 million, but there was no prize one winner for the $30 million jackpot.

If it isn’t claimed again tonight, next week it’ll go even higher.

Back in March, three division one winners shared a $70 million jackpot, however one Melbourne winner had accidentally ended up holding two of those entries and took home $46.6 million.

Earlier this year, a Sydney woman scooped up an extraordinary $107.57 million in a record Powerball draw.

Although the Powerball prize had been set at $100 million, it blew out an extra $7 million by the large numbers of investors who bought tickets in a bid to take out the top prize.

The Lott contacted the woman, who wished to remain anonymous, directly after the draw to inform her of her life-changing win.

“I don’t understand — is this actually real?” she said. “I don’t believe it. I don’t believe it. Is this a trick?”

The registered player also misheard the eye-watering figure, thinking she had walked away with just $107,000.

“Wait — are you telling me I’ve won $107 million? Oh my god. That is just so much money,” she told Australia’s official lottery provider over the phone.

The woman, a healthcare provider, said she wouldn’t quit her job. She planned to share her winnings with her family, give “a whole slab of money” to her favourite charity, and perhaps “buy a caravan and travel around”.

“I’m so passionate about my job. It will drive me to do more health work for causes important to me,” she told The Lott. “I’m not quite sure what to do, but of course I will be helping my family.”
