TAYLOR Swift has found herself an unlikely new fan.

Northern Territory Attorney-General John Elferink broke out in “song” during a parliamentary sitting, but his choice of anthem is not one you might expect.

Answering questions about mandatory alcohol treatment programs on Monday, Elferink stopped to pay homage to Swift’s smash hit Shake It Off, in his own special, ocker, kind of way, ABC Darwin reports.

“I’m a very sensitive person, but I turn to the great American philosopher T-Swift,” Elferink said.

“Some players are going to play, play, pay.

“Others are gonna fake, fake, fake.

“Well I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake.

“Shake it off.”

An insight into politics perhaps? Or simply a fan girl moment? While Elferink’s rendition might not be word for word, it certainly was a magical moment.

The best part about it? What happened next.

“OK, thanks,” came the response.

“I think we’re all a lot smarter.”

Here, here.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, here’s the original version.

Elferink is not averse to a bit of shenanigans.

Back in March, the then Disability Services Minister Elferink was seen appearing to mock the Deputy Leader of the Northern Territory Opposition Gerry McCarthy over his hearing impairment.

Mr McCarthy had asked a minister to repeat herself. When she did, Mr Elferink was seen leaning halfway out of the frame and appearing to use mock sign language.

Elferink dished out “street justice” with back-to-back citizen’s arrests last year.
