A hard-working young window cleaner has surprised and impressed Australians by revealing his massive salary.

Get ahead, an app that pairs employees with jobs, makes content to promote their service by stopping people in the street and asking them how much they earn.

The young Aussie was wandering around Brisbane was wearing baggy jean shorts and a button-up when he was stopped and asked, “how much do you make?”

“I own my own business,” he said.

The young man outlined that he runs Squeaky Clean Windows, a successful window cleaning business.

“It is very different depending on the weather. So maybe some weeks I’ll make a few thousand and other weeks a lot more than that. It really depends,” he said.

The TikTok, which now has more than 24,000 likes, has a caption saying he is averaging $3,000 a week.

Financial comparison website Finder has found that the average Gen Zer earns a personal income of $54,000. Full-time Gen Z employees on average earn around $80,000.

This is compared to Gen Y, who reports an average personal income of $72,481, and full-time employees, who earn $97,994 per year.

Window cleaner reveals massive salary

If the window cleaner earns a couple of thousand a week on a lousy week, he is out-earning the average wage not just from his peer group but also from people in their 40s and 50s.

The young man continued and said he has been running his own business for almost three years now. He has also found it a really “good” experience, and it has allowed him to learn a lot about business and success.

He said that running his own business has taught him the importance of communicating and leaning to upscale without overextending.

“It is one thing to make your business but to actually grow it and make it into something bigger than it can be,” he said.

The Gen Zer said that he has now learnt how to expand and outsource, which is allowing his business to grow, but it wasn’t a seamless journey.

“It started by me knocking on doors,” he said.

He’d walk around with a squeegee brush from Woolworths and doorknock, offering people his cleaning service. From there, it just grew, but he said that in the beginning, not everyone was supportive or believed it was a worthwhile job.

“Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. At the start, I was told, ‘You can’t do this, and it’s going to be hard, ‘” he said.

“Everyone was laughing at the fact I was cleaning windows and cleaning but there’s so much money out there to be made.”

The young Aussie said that young people shouldn’t listen to their doubters and should instead be prepared to try anything because it can work out.

“Do whatever feels right to you. Just go out there and give it a crack, like most people nowadays won’t give it a go and that is what our generation needs,” he advised.

Australians online were immediately surprised by his massive wage, with someone commenting “wow” and another joking, “Why did I chose childcare?”

Mostly, though, people were just impressed by the young man’s work ethic.

“One hell of a wise young man,” one wrote.

“This man is going places,” another mused.

“Awesome! Future multi-millionaire,” someone else complimented.

“Super motivational,” one wrote.

“Great job young man. Hard work and positive attitude creates success,” someone said.
