‘Couldn’t do it’: Reason 32yo only lasted 10 minutes at job trial
A young woman has revealed the wild reason she quit her job within ten minutes of starting on her first day.
Sometimes in life, you have to choose yourself, and that is exactly what Sophie Ward did when she quit her job trial within 10 minutes.
Ms Ward, 32, is originally from the UK and has been documenting her travels around Australia and, most recently, her very brief foray into childcare.
The 32-year-old shared online that she didn’t “even last” 10 minutes in her job trial and fled so quickly her Tupperware was sacrificed in her mad dash to freedom.
Ms Ward amassed over 100,000 views online by sharing the fact she fled her job trial within 10 minutes.
Immediately Aussies were demanding answers.
“What was so horrible in 10 minutes?” One asked.
Ms Ward remained allusive in the comment section, just sharing that she was thinking of returning home because she couldn’t find a “bloody job” and said she was looking for anything and everything at this point.
Someone commiserated and said childcare isn’t for the “faint-hearted”, and another recommended she head to Brisbane to look for work.
Ms Ward however has given the full story to news.com.au and said her reason for quitting was pretty simple.
“I left because I’d never done children before, and I was in a room with 10 screaming babies, and I just couldn’t do it,” she said.
The expat said she’s been finding it “tough” to find the right job in Australia, but that doesn’t mean she’s willing to accept anything.
“I’ve applied for hundreds of jobs online and in person. I used social media to reach out too,” she said.
The 32-year-old said she even got “rejected” from a major grocery chain in her quest for employment.
She’s been surprised by this because she has heaps of customer service experience. She’s even handed out resumes at retail shops and still hasn’t heard a peep.
She’s had also had to endure attending three interview rounds for certain jobs only to be “ghosted” when it comes to the final decision.
“I even went for an interview the other day, and they asked me to text them my schedule for a trial, and they never got back to me,” she explained.
She ended up giving childcare a crack, but that wasn’t a match, and not to mention, she abandoned “prime Tupperware” to make a speedy exit.
Perhaps the most harrowing part of the ordeal is that her Tupperware container was filled with spaghetti bolognese.
Which she did admit she absolutely “fuming” to miss out on eating but she didn’t think she’d dare go back for it.
