Tradie wins $2.6 million after reluctantly searching for the Lotto ticket stashed in his back pocket
THIS tradie was grumpy when his daughter made him hunt for a Lotto ticket after an 18-hour shift, but he is now $2.6 million richer for it.
A PERTH tradie has claimed a $2.6 million Lotto prize after spending half an hour searching for the ticket, which was in the back pocket of his work pants.
The Forrestfield man, aged in his 50s, had just finished working a double shift when his daughter called asking if he had bought a Saturday Lotto ticket from Newburn Newsagency in High Wycombe.
“She’d seen on the news that Lotterywest was still on the hunt for the winner almost a week later,” he said.
“I told her I’d get around to checking it but she wouldn’t hang up until I agreed to do it then and there.”
The man said he became cranky after struggling to find the ticket. “I’d just worked an 18-hour day and she had me running around like a headless chook,” he said.
“After 30 years of playing I’ve won this bloody thing.”
The man, who has been buying Lotto tickets for 30 years, said he checked the numbers off one by one, telling his daughter: “I’ve won the bloody Lotto.”
Elsewhere, a Queensland woman won $2.77 million after a remarkable winning run over two days this week.
A woman from the Caboolture region, north of Brisbane, won $2.77 million on last night’s Gold Lotto, the Caboolture Shire Herald reports.
The woman, who has not been named, won division one four times on a single Monday and Wednesday Gold Lotto entry.
It followed her $17,000 win in a lower divisional prizes on Monday.
“I’ve been waiting to hear from someone from Golden Casket all my life!” she told a Golden Casket official who rang with the news.
“It’s just unreal! I’ve had two wins in the past few weeks and now last night I won $2.77 million. It’s crazy!
“It’s like you get your lucky time in your life and it all happens. That’s how it feels to me.
“It’s been a bit of a roll of wins lately. I thought my luck may have run out but it’s just got better. This is the icing on top of the cake!”
