Where could Zac Efron be staying in Byron Bay?
Rumours abound that Hollywood hearthrob Zac Efron is hiding out from coronavirus in famous Byron Bay and there is a clever clue as to just where he might be living.
The rumour is almost as big as the star that he is - Zac Efron is hiding out in Byron Bay.
According to the grapevine, namely social media, Efron has been laying low during the coronavirus pandemic in the much-romanticised northern NSW hamlet, which is earning itself a rep as a destination where Hollywood celebrities can fly under the radar.
There haven’t been any confirmed sightings, AKA Instagram posts, but that hasn’t stopped his legion of fans and social media influencers speculating hourly.
Sydney radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands went as far to confirm the talk, in his own way, about his mate Efron when he said he knew where the Baywatch star was staying but wouldn’t give it away.
Just as Chris and Liam Hemsworth, Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe, Kate Winslet, Meg Ryan, Pink, Keith Richards and Elle Macpherson have shown, the affectionately nicknamed ‘Byron’ is a great place to spend your time doing very little in a place that can comfortably accommodate those of us accustomed to the finer things in life.

Just the sort of properties a Hollywood star and their ego could happily call home.

Tucked around the corner, out of the way of Byron Bay proper, Wategos Beach would have to be the best go-to, in order to keep out of sight but also enjoy the best the area has to offer.
The famous Rae’s hotel right on the sand at the western end of the beach, where the penthouse costs around $2,000 a night has hosted many a celebrity and this could be the one if you’re a heart throb with a ‘Best Shirtless Performance’ Award under your belt and keen to enjoy a bit of winter sunshine.
If Efron wanted something a bit more private but in the same locale, Palm Valley Drive, which boasts a number of luxury homes for rent, is close nearby.
One of those palatial homes, sitting under the famous Cape Byron Lighthouse is the aptly named Baywatch.
“A classic, mid-century designed home located on the ‘front row’ of exclusive Wategos Beach,” the ‘for rent’ description reads.
“This original beach house is north facing and provides sunbathed lawns and living areas all day long, combined with spectacular sunset views over the Mount Warning hinterland in the evening.”
“It’s nice and warm in the sunshine up here, and who wouldn’t want to be sitting on a lounge chair doing some whale spotting or just enjoying the view from a house up on Watego’s Beach at this time of year?” said a spokesperson from Byron Bay Luxury Homes.
Another one of their rental offerings sits on the other side of Wategos to Baywatch, that features 270 degree water views, an infinity pool and easy access to the beach and the coastal walking track around the corner to longboard surfing favourite The Pass and into town.
If you’re Efron or any other visitor looking for the best Byron Bay has to offer a little closer to the action, there is the incredible Moondarah.
