Vaucluse home of Julia Maguire and Andrew Spira hits the market
The Vaucluse home of Andrew Spira — a troubled relative of Ita Buttrose who allegedly thought ‘an airline was out to get him’ — is for sale after his separation from his high-flying fiance.
The Vaucluse home of home of The Capital Network chief Julia Maguire and troubled entrepreneur Andrew Spira has hit the market just 18 months after they bought it for $9m.
The five-bedroom, three-bathroom home with double garage on a 680sqm block at 20 Village Lower Rd is listed with Biller Property principal Paul Biller for a forthcoming auction with a $9m guide.
It’s understood that Maguire, 40, and her former fiance, 24-year-old Spira, a relative of Ita Buttrose, are separating after seven years and buying 11 properties together. Though only their family home is up for sale.
Spira appeared in Sutherland Court earlier this month for allegedly attempting to use a fake passport and false name to travel overseas for a business deal. The court heard he’d thought an “airline was out to get him”.

In an exclusive interview with the Wentworth Courier, Maguire said they’d purchased the residence she lovingly calls “The Vaucluse Country Club” from wellness warrior James Duigan and his wife, Christiane, who was a school friend of Maguire in Adelaide.
“It’s been an absolute blast ... I’ve had a really fun summer here,” she said.
“I’m loving my new life.
“The house is the most superb residence and it has brought me great joy — the best entertaining house ever.”
Having less fun no doubt is Spira, who is the CEO of mega business loan broker Pineapple Funding.
Following his May 9 court appearance over the fake passport and false name matter, the son of socialite Lizzie Buttrose — niece of Ita — was granted bail, provided he attend a mental health clinic, with the case adjourned to June 6.
He’d also been in a court last June for breaching a Victorian family violence safety order after a row with Maguire at Crown Casino.
Spira was sentenced to a nine-month community corrections order, discounted by 25 per cent due to an early guilty plea.
Maguire had supported him then at an appeal and the conviction was overturned and sentence reduced to a nine-month conditional release order.

Maguire confirmed that a Spanish Mission apartment block at 72 Elizabeth Bay Rd, Elizabeth Bay, that was purchased for $3.41m — $310,000 above reserve — at auction in December, 2020, would be retained.
CoreLogic shows that it was listed for sale again with a $5m guide last October with BradfieldBadger Fox. But she said it was pulled from the market six weeks ago.
