It sold last week for $6.6 million after just 20 days on the market.
It had been due to go to auction this Saturday with a guide of $5.5 million, through Bernard Ryan and Geoff Smith, of the Ray White Lower North Shore Group.
Mr Ryan said there were five groups that wanted to buy the substantial home, and the deal was done at 8pm on Friday night after five hours of intense negotiations.
“The market is hot, and this is a wonderful house in a great location,” he said.
The historic two-storey house, which dates back to 1904 and has undergone a number of refurbishments over the decades.
Located in a pocket of Mosman that locals have coined the Golden Triangle, the classic home sits just 500m from the Balmoral Beach Club and is surrounded by some of the grandest residences the exclusive enclave has to offer.
Beyond the traditional front veranda and charming fish pond, the entry level opens up to a vast formal lounge area to the left and a separate home office to the right.
Much of the original detail has been preserved in these stately front rooms including bold archways and ornate ceilings as well as French doors to the front garden.
This lower level is also home to a loggia style covered balcony which overlooks the pool and gardens.
The home also features newly carpeted bedrooms, fresh paint, plantation shutters, timber floors, an alarm, ducted gas heating and split system airconditioning.
“Quality residences providing such generous accommodation are rare in this premium pocket,” Mr Ryan said.
“Buyers based both locally and overseas are attracted for this fact alone.”
