According to new figures from RP Data the most expensive suburb to rent a house in Australia is in Western Australia.
The median rental price in Port Hedland in Western Australia where the median weekly advertised rent is a whopping $1775 a week.
Investors achieve an indicative gross rental yield of 9.3 per cent for their properties in the area.
The list is dominated by suburbs in the Pilbara region in WA and inner Sydney suburbs.
Mosman in Sydney has the highest median asking rent in New South Wales and the second highest in the country at $1500 a week.
The suburb is about 8km northeast of the Sydney CBD.
With such a high buy in price in the suburb investors don’t get such a good return with an indicative gross rental yield for houses in Mosman of only 3.2 per cent.
Suburbs way outside of the Perth CBD dominate the list of highest rents, with Newman, about 1186km from Perth third on the list with a median weekly advertised rent of $1500 a week.
Within the same region, South Hedland, is fourth with a weekly advertised rent of $1350.
Woollahra about 5km from the Sydney CBD is fifth on the list with a median weekly advertised rent of $1300.

Nickol WA — $1100 a week
Seaforth, NSW — $1095 a week
Roseville, NSW — $1050 a week
St Ives, NSW — $1000 a week
