It was listed via Adrian William director Adrian Tsavalas and had previously been the childhood home of Dimitriades – best known for his various soles in The Slap, Amazing Grace, and his role as Nick Polides in The Heartbreak Kid and its spin-off Heartbreak High.

Mr Tsavalas said the successful buyers had not actively been looking to buy in Earlwood, but admired the property’s features.

“The vendor had been expecting a sale in the $1.2m to $1.3m range, so they were happy with the stronger than anticipated result.

“Over the past weekend, Adrian William sold six of the six properties up for auction. Some properties had 14 bidders, over 500 buyers walking through the 26 open homes too. The Inner West is experiencing stronger demand than ever.

The key to a strong selling campaign
The Inner West market has continued to perform strongly in the initial months of 2023.

“There’s a lot less uncertainty in the market now than before the pandemic. Bars, pubs, restaurants are all open now, and the lifestyle options continue to attract buyers as well as the proximity to the city.”

Dimitriades’ family sold the home to the previous vendor in September 2010 for $661,000.

Over the past 12 years, the vendor has made various updates throughout the home and is now planning to downsize elsewhere in Sydney.

Much of the success of the Inner West has been driven by buyers purchasing homes up to $1.5m.

“Buyers have been attracted to the Art Deco style of the property seen in the timber floors and the ornate ceilings, it’s a great offering for the area.

“The property also features a lockup garage. The feedback we’ve received from buyers is that there’s a desire to purchase a property with more living space. In Marrickville, the average two bedroom semi usually gets around 150 sqm, here in Earlwood its 345 sqm.”
