This Stanmore semi for sale looks unrecognisable after incredible renovation

A Stanmore semi that has undergone a huge transformation where only the front facade was retained, could break the street record when it goes to auction.

Dramatically transformed by the vendors, this Stanmore semi is unrecognisable from when it was last on the market five years ago.

An architectural reinvention has revamped this traditional home and created a state-of-the-art, dual level masterpiece of the very highest quality and style.

McGrath — Newtown’s Adrian Tsavalas said the owner has gone to incredible lengths in the design of 59 Northumberland Ave over the two-year project.

“Besides the front facade and the wall that is connected to next door, everything is new and has been rebuilt,” he said.

With four bedrooms and three bathrooms, the home has an open plan design that sees the study, dining, kitchen and living areas all forming one large room that flows to an outdoor entertainment area.

This is greatly different to old semi floorplan that saw the living, dining and kitchen spaces all separated by walls and doors.

Tips to keep ahead of the property market

The kitchen has received one of the largest transformations going from a dark room with no window to one with plenty of light, as well as having Neolith surfaces, wood finishes, breakfast bar and plenty of storage. It also has a PITT cooktop and dual oven.

The ground floor has a fireplace and winter garden, plus a guest bedroom and bathroom that Mr Tsavalas said is perfect for those with elderly parents.

The second floor has three bedrooms — all with built in wardrobes. The main bedroom has views of the Sydney skyline and the backyard, as well as an ensuite bathroom with a skylight and marble finishes.

The backyard has been gone from a concrete courtyard with shed to one with a heated pool and lockup garage.

The McGrath agent said the property will have strong interest from locals, as well as those from the north shore and eastern suburbs. All buyers who have inspected the property have been blown away with the home’s transformation.

“Everyone is impressed with the quality of the home’s detail and finishes, as well as the workmanship that has occurred,” he said.

The Northumberland Ave home is scheduled to go to auction next month on August 3. It has a $2 million price guide.

A sale around that figure would see No. 59 become the most expensive home to ever sell on Northumberland Ave, with it eclipsing the sale of no. 71 in September 2018 for $1.925 million, according to CoreLogic data.
