The Project co-host Carrie Bickmore lists Byron Bay property for rent
Carrie Bickmore, co-host of The Project, has listed her stunning $3 million Byron Bay home with pool and hot tub for rent – but it will set you back a pretty penny each week to live there.
A surge in empty Airbnbs returning to traditional tenancy arrangements is being witnessed in the tourism town of Byron Bay.
Carrie Bickmore, co-host of The Project, was getting up to $1200 a night for Luxico, her Airbnb rental. But with the lockdown, she’s now sought full-time tenants. It means a drop in revenue as the home has been offered at $2200 a week, one of 117 available for rent.

The Airbnb crisis is creating distress for long-term landlords feeling the pinch when it comes to their property portfolios. Two weeks ago in Sydney’s Bondi Beach there were 277 properties for rent, but now it’s 337, according to realestate.com.au.
The big issue is how much landlords should drop asking rents to secure tenants before the seasonal winter doubling of the vacancy rate.
The recently sold $7.25 million Bondi Beach apartment of former cricket captain Michael Clarke was put up for rent at $4000 a week by its buyer Dana Lewis, wife of Oceana Fund’s David Lewis.
However, after market feedback, it is now available at $3500 through Sotheby’s International.
