Strathfield record broken: inside the suburb’s $16.8m home

A mansion in Strathfield with basketball court, 10 person spa, room for 12 cars and plenty more jaw dropping features has smashed the record books by $4m.

A luxury European style mansion has smashed the Strathfield suburb record by more than $4m, selling for $16.88m.

The opulent six-bedroom, eight-bathroom home at 23 South St beat the previous record set in October for 52 Woodside Ave for $12.5m.

The vendor’s purchased the South St home in December 2015 for $3.245m, completely knocking down and rebuilding the residence. The vendor spent north of $7m on the build, according to the agent.

Standing on an 1,208 sqm parcel of land, the expansive three-level home exudes luxury. It features handcrafted artisanal finishes, including a glass domed ceiling void with large sparkling chandelier and a bespoke marble staircase.

The property was sold by McGrath Strathfield agent Tarun Sethi, who described the home as “a remarkable residence”.

He added that it was in the top five of best residences he had ever seen.

The median house price in Strathfield is currently $3.82m, according to PropTrack data.
