Simple clifftop beauty offers an oasis you can really live in
Sometimes a home is so beautiful and styled you almost feel the need to tiptoe around, afraid to put anything out of place. This is not one of those homes.
Every now and then a house comes along that needs few words to describe it.
This house at 91 Marine Pde, Avalon Beach, is one of those, not that you would know it from its somewhat unassuming beach house exterior.
Step past the tropical gardens and through the front door and you will see — a house so remarkably beautiful it leaves you breathless.
But there is something more, a simple and earthy vibe that makes you instantly comfortable. There is nothing unattainable about the beauty of this house. You can picture yourself draped over the deck while the kids traipse sand all over the floor and the dog leaves wet paw prints.
This house is literally calling out to be lived in and loved — it’s an unlikely partnership of organic textures and complete luxury, but it just works.
And then there’s the view — a clifftop oceanfront bathed in northern light that sweeps over the ocean to the headland and east to Pittwater.
This stunning home was designed by Walsh Bay-based architect Eduardo Villa, well known for his commercial and retail projects. The Argentina-born architect has been involved with a handful of northern beaches projects, but this one could well be the swan song that will have local people begging for more.
The Avalon Beach home has already featured in multiple magazines, but for Mr Villa, fame is clearly not what seeks. He pours his heart and soul into his designs, and it shows on every surface.
“Creating connectivity to the view from every single room was important — it’s all about that spectacular view,” he said.
The two-level home is built around a central courtyard which flows straight out from the living spaces to an expansive terrace and deck complete with swimming pool and tropical gardens.
This design cleverly protects the outdoor living space from the winds that occasionally sweep in off the ocean, and provides a safe place for the children to play. It’s almost like the house is embracing this area. And then there’s the main bedroom — with its, private balcony and an Apaiser stone bath.
Just look — enough said.
