Renovated Hurlstone Park home sells after smashing reserve
A Hurlstone Park home owned by the same family for 36 years has sold at a thrilling auction that saw 15 bidders register and the reserved smashed by more than $200,000.
A charming four-bedroom Hurlstone Park home has sold at auction for $1.655 million — a whopping $205,000 above reserve.
The auction for 8 Mill St had 15 registered bidders with proceedings kicking off at $1.3 million, before three parties went hard for the keys.
Bids rose mostly in $20,000 increments and slowed only a little until it was declared on the market at $1.45 million.

From there it became a tussle between three determined bidders, with the price rising as each upped the other’s offer sometimes by as little as $1000.
When the hammer sounded at $1.655 million, it was the opening bidder who walked away with the keys to the family home after signing on the dotted the line with Richardson and Wrench’s Aris Dendrinos and Natalie Lobasso.
The result also meant the property has gone full circle, with the long term vendor of the property having purchased the property in 1983 from Mr Dendrinos’ father Peter.
Richardson and Wrench chief auctioneer Peter Baldwin said the large interest in the home follows a shift in sentiment since the federal election on May 18.
“People were looking to find the floor and they perceive that they might have,” he said.
“Sellers who were hesitant to list in an uncertain market have an opportunity now to capture this rise in sentiment while the market appears to be on the turn.”
The renovated home features a contemporary kitchen, double garage and a modern bathroom.
