Pete Evans buys $1 million NSW hinterland tourist retreat

Controversial disgraced celebrity chef Pete Evans has splashed $1 million on a sprawling tourist retreat in the NSW hinterlands.

Pete Evans gets weirder: How much more can he lose?

Disgraced celebrity chef, conspiracy theorist and potential future senator Pete Evans has made good on his plan to establish a “healing retreat” in Byron Bay, adding a sprawling tourist retreat in the region’s hinterland to his property portfolio.

Healthy Everyday Ltd, the 48-year-old former My Kitchen Rules star’s company, splashed $1 million on the popular $100-per-night Mount Warning Forest Hideaway, The Daily Telegraphreported yesterday.

Boasting sweeping mountain views, creeks, private swimming holes and waterfalls, the tourist venture previously catered to couples and families for holidays and corporate healing retreats.

“The eight units can simply be continued as is or reimagined by the new owners,” Real Estate of Distinction Byron Bay selling agent Janis Perkins’ marketing suggested.

The cabins do not provide mobile, internet or television reception, but an “authentic retreat from the distractions of modern life”.

The Byrrill Creek property, set about 66km northwest of the Byron Bay township, isn’t far from the Pottsville retreat he and wife, Nicola Robinson, have called home since moving from Sydney last September.

Evans sold his Malabar home for a whopping $3.36 million and since relocating north has opened his Evolve Health Labs clinic, which offers “transformational practices” such as “cold and conscious breath-work” and cryotherapy.

With his latest property purchase, he also moves one step closer to his plans to set up his own health retreat.

Before being banned from Facebook (and Instagram) for spreading misinformation about COVID-19 and vaccines, Evans announced on the platform that he and Nicola hope to provide a retreat for “fully immersive weekends and weeks including organic cooking, breath work and meditation”.

The acquisition comes after Evans announced last month he will join politics and run for the Senate with former One Nation Senator Rod Culleton’s The Great Australian Party.

“Pete Evans has maintained his principles and inspired others in the face of uncommon adversity,” Mr Culleton said in a statement announcing Evans’ candidacy for the upcoming federal election.

“Pete is fully supportive of the GAP ethos, supporting restoration of the commonwealth and the preservation of democracy in Australia.

“Throughout his engagement with GAP’s national selection committee, Pete presented an unwavering commitment to advancing the freedoms of all Australians. As a result, he has been resoundingly approved.

“Pete Evans has consistently demonstrated courage in exposing matters of public information and interest, provoking much needed debate despite personal cost to himself.

“I believe Pete Evans will effectively and diligently represent GAP’s growing membership base and all NSW constituents. Pete possesses the essential attributes required to challenge the status quo and restore the rule of law as defined in our constitution.

“It gives me great pleasure to congratulate Pete and welcome him on board as GAP’s first federal candidate for the NSW senate.”
