NSW Trustee and Guardian home in Strathfield sells for $410k above reserve
A Strathfield home being auctioned off by the NSW Trustee and Guardian stunned on lookers after it sold under the hammer for $410,000 above the reserve.
With fewer homes going to auction on the weekend because of the Queen’s Birthday public holiday, those that did reaped huge results.
One of those was a four-bedroom Strathfield home being auction by NSW Trustee and Guardian.
It sold under the hammer for $2.32 million — $410,000 above the reserve set by Belle Property Strathfield’s Norman So.

Three of the five registered bidders took part on the day, but once bidding reached $2 million, it became a two horse race.
No. 13 Bates St, Strathfield, was purchased by a local buyer who placed the opening $1.7 million bid. They now plan to demolish the home and build their dream house on the 751sqm block.
Mr So said the result exceeded buyer expectation throughout the campaign, which had been hovering around the $1.85 million mark.
The property was one of 21 to either sell at auction or prior to the day. According to CoreLogic data, this ensured the whole inner west had an impressive 70 per cent clearance rate — slightly above the Sydney’s 62.89 per cent.
Sitting next to the recently upgraded Pilgrim Park, the full brick home retains many character features including original fireplaces, detailed ceilings and leadlight windows.
The property also has ducted airconditioning and a renovated stone kitchen.
