Having upped sticks from Melbourne presciently this year, ­Natalie Bassingthwaighte and her family have firmly put down roots in Byron Bay.

The recording artist and her husband, musician Cameron McGlinchey, have opted for the hinterland over the town, paying $2.15 million for a property in Ewingsdale, seven kilometres inland.

The four-bedroom 1985-built homestead has open plan contemporary living space, modern kitchen with walk in pantry, a pool and a separate newly renovated bungalow.

The home, last traded for $1.85 million in 2018, was sold snappily by First National Byron Bay agent Tara Torkkola, who was asking $2.195 million. They are already getting around to touching up the home, with Bassingthwaighte seemingly covered in white paint when posting to her 197,000 Instagram followers.

The couple sold their former 1907 home in Brighton for $4 million, ahead of the pandemic and extended Melbourne lockdown.

They had paid $2,525,000 for the home in 2012 shortly after Natalie sold her Elizabeth Bay apartment for $830,000.

The couple, who wed in 2011, have been together since 2006 when they met while in the band Rogue Traders.

The mystery $22 million Wategos Beach buyer was revealed on settlement as the veteran Rip Curl co-founder Brian Singer and his family from Victoria.

The luxury Tim Moon-­designed two-storey home was sold by the veteran headhunter Geoff Morgan and his wife Ros in early October through LJ Hooker agent Michael Coombs.

Singer, who was born in 1944, is the Bells Beach-based surf veteran who co-founded Rip Curl in 1969.

The surf wear company was sold to Kathmandu in a $350 million deal last year.

The beachfront retreat was bought in a company name with shared ownership held among Singer’s four children, Samala, Naomi, Anthony and Jade, who all reside on the Victorian Surf Coast.
