Murdoch Bronte beach house for sale again
Media power couple Sarah and Lachlan Murdoch have just relisted their luxury Bronte beach house as a string of prestige properties hit the Sydney market.
SYDNEY power couple, Sarah and Lachlan Murdoch, have relisted their glamorous Bronte beach pad at a time when the local prestige market is buoyed by confidence.
The contemporary eastern suburbs property has sweeping ocean views from almost every room, features five bedrooms, four bathrooms and a host of luxury inclusions.
While selling agent Ken Jacobs of Christies International Real Estate is not commenting on price, the three-storey residence is expected to sell well into the double-digit millions when the hammer falls on its yet to be determined auction day.
When the property was first listed in 2009, there were price hopes in excess of $13.5 million.
The News Corp and 21st Century Fox co-chairman Lachlan Murdoch and his model and TV presenter wife bought the beach house in 2005 from Bronte Surf Club president Graham Ford, but then gave the address a significant makeover.
Four years later, the pair bought a grand family estate in Bellevue Hill, formerly the French Trade Commissioner’s residence, for $23 million — an Australian record price at auction.
In recent years, the home, which is on a 411sq m sloping block, has reportedly been the Sydney pied a terre of actor Toni Collette.
Over three floors the near-new property has multiple terraces, casual and formal living and dining spaces including a rumpus room with wet bar, plus a large temperature-controlled wine cellar, study and a grand main bedroom suite with a full length deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean, a dressing room and an ensuite.
As well as custom timber joinery throughout, full security and a double lock up garage, the five-star home is just metres to Bronte cafes and opposite the Bronte rock pool.
