The owner of an extraordinary Mediterranean style home in Tascott was once a stonemason in Hawaii, working for some of the wealthiest people in the world, including actor Tom Selleck.

Now Barry Pescosta is selling his incredible home with intricate hard limestone features that took him two years to complete.

Designed and built by Mr Pescosta, the property at 1 Victory Pde comes with silver travertine tiling, French bleed bamboo flooring and luxuriant hedges.

A retired stonemason, Mr Pescosta was originally a builder, working around the world with the US military before becoming a carpenter in Texas and eventually switching over to work with stone.

He then moved to Hawaii where his clients included Selleck and a billionaire Canadian beer baron.

“I would have a beer with Tom when he came home from the studio in Honolulu,” he said.

Mr Pescosta moved to Sydney and later the Central Coast where his wife was living.

Both art collectors, the couple have put their heart and soul into their Tascott home, which was once just a three-bedroom shack.

Just 150m from the train station, the property now has five bedrooms, vaulted ceilings, a sandstone fountain and eco fireplace, a connoisseur’s 600 bottle wine cellar and a water feature plus cabana.

The European inspired kitchen includes Caesarstone and granite bench tops, imported German cabinetry, induction cooking, Liebherr integrated fridges and dishwasher, plus a butler’s pantry.

“I used to travel a lot and I thought, why not make your home like a five-star penthouse to enjoy every day instead of paying money to go and stay somewhere else,” Mr Pescosta said.

Selling agent Brian Roy of Domain Property Group said that the property was unlike anything he had seen on the Coast.

No. 1 Victory Pde is for sale via expressions of interest and has a price guide of $1.3-$1.5 million.
