Lindfield landmark gets a new lease on life — and a lush lawn
Bringing new life to a 1890s cottage in Lindfield has been a family’s labour of love for the last 25 years, and the results are incredible.
There is a secret to the lush green lawn that graces the front of this refined Victorian beauty
But you will have to buy the house to find out.
“It’s important to have some secrets,” owner Richard Cahill said.
There is literally no square centimetre of this 1226sqm block at 86 Provincial Rd, Lindfield, that he and his family don’t know.

Sydney prices grow for the first time in two years
They have poured their hearts and souls into the property for the past 25 years.
It bears little resemblance to the home they originally bought.
The 1890s Victorian-era home has undergone a classy and sympathetic renovation by Cadence & Co builders, while Trudy Russell has taken care of the interior design.
The result is a sophisticated blend of character and contemporary elegance, that is as liveable as it is stylish.
The home is picture perfect from the street, with its green lawn, manicured gardens and leadlight front door.
Step inside to the traditional entry hall, a sensory feast of rich timber flooring, high ceilings with light pulls and feature fireplaces complete with original tiling.
The single-level layout lends itself perfectly to a family, and Mr Cahill says it has served as the perfect place to raise their children.
“It’s a special property, a place where our children have grown up, and where we have spent many happy years,” he said.
Mr Cahill admired the house from afar for about a decade — from his second favourite spot across the road at the Killara Golf Course.
“I would walk around and see the house and say ‘that’s a house I would like to buy’,” he said.
“It took 10 years before it happened, and it was a classic case of being in the right place at the right time.”
So has living opposite a golf course aided the avid golfer’s handicap of 11?
“It’s maintained my handicap,” he said.
Other features of the home include on-trend black and white kitchen with stone bench tops, Shaker profile cabinets, a large deck at the rear and new bathrooms.
The property is due to go to auction on July 27, at 1pm, with a price guide of $2.7 million.
