Kings Cross bordello for sale
IT’S got 10 bedrooms, 10 ensuites and no windows and is in Sydney’s notorious Kings Cross. There’s only one thing this recently-listed property could be.
What has 10 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, no windows, just one kitchen and an industrial-sized laundry?
The answer is — this newly listed terrace “house” in the heart of Kings Cross.
The 171sq m property at 52 Kellett St is advertised as a “grand terrace zoned for residential and commercial” use through McGrath Estate Agents Chris Helich and Peter Starr.
“This property is in a neighbourhood that is beginning to be gentrified and is continuing to do so,” Mr Helich said.
“This part of Potts Point is now becoming a highly sought after residential neighbourhood,” he said.
With a price guide of more than $1.8 million, the unique terrace is zoned as B4 Mixed Use and is currently operating as a brothel known as Secret Desire. It has also been in business as Studio 52, Star 52 and Antonio’s Angels.
Although there is no mention of what kind of business is operating on site in the current real estate advertising, there is mention of “boundless scope and future promise” at the “iconic address”.
In April last year the property was on the market for just over three months with a price tag of $1.98 million, but a sale failed to get up.
According to RP data record the bordello premises were also listed for most of 2011 with no price guide advertised.
The racy address traded in 2006 for a whopping $2.1 million, in 2004 for $1.5 million, in 1999 for $1.3866 million and in 1979 for just $90,000.
Now with a sexy new makeover, the parlour property has ornate ceilings, arched hallways, multiple private outdoor areas and, of course, the nightlife of Kings Cross.
Mr Helich said that the site has endless possibility.
“We’ve only had the property listed online for a couple of days an in that time we’ve had inquiries from every walk of life,” he said.
