Jamie Oliver has moved into his new $AUD 11 million (£6 million) mansion just two months after his restaurant empire collapsed, leaving 1,000 people out of work.

The celebrity chef and his family moved into the impressive Tudor property in Essex — one of his two multimillion-dollar properties, according to The Sun.

The 44-year-old, who is worth an estimated $AUD 180 million, recently organised for renovations at the 16th century mansion.

With the refurb seemingly complete, Oliver and his family began moving into the six-bedroom farmhouse with converted stables that sits on a sprawling 28-hectare estate.

Staff were seen in tears outside restaurants, as KPMG was appointed as administrators.

In a statement, Oliver described the administration as a “difficult time for everyone”.

He said: “I am deeply saddened by this outcome and would like to thank all of the staff and our suppliers who have put their hearts and souls into this business for over a decade. I appreciate how difficult this is for everyone affected.

“I would also like to thank all the customers who have enjoyed and supported us over the last decade. It’s been a real pleasure serving you.”

Oliver had reportedly pumped £13 million ($A23 million) of his own money into the chain to try to save it, but it was revealed it lost a whopping £29 million ($A52 million) in just one year in 2017.

Just three restaurants will now stay open in the short term after 22 were confirmed as closed — two Jamie’s Italian restaurants and Jamie Oliver’s Diner all based at Gatwick Airport.

Oliver opened his first Jamie’s Italian in 2008 and saw rapid expansion across the UK in the early 2010s.

But last year it was revealed the Essex-born star’s firm owed staff £2.2 million ($A4 million) and was in £71.5 million ($A128.3 million) of debt.

Jamie’s Italian shut 12 of its 37 sites as part of a company voluntary agreement, and steakhouse chain Barbecoa went into a pre-pack administration.
