Clovelly fisherman’s shack could net $1.6 million
DESPITE its dilapidated state with only one bedroom, this original fisherman’s shack in Clovelly, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs could reel in up to $1.6m.
There is only one bedroom in this dilapidated deceased estate, but the eastern suburbs beach shack is set to reel in a small fortune.
An original fisherman’s cottage estimated to be about 100 years old, could net as much as $1.6 million under the hammer thanks to its sought after Clovelly location.
Now surrounded by an almost entirely gentrified suburb of designer digs, 119 Boundary St, Clovelly has stood still, greatly untouched over a century.
Catching the eye of keen developers, selling agent Anthony Romano of LJ Hooker Randwick said he has already been inundated with calls in the three days since the property has been listed.
“We’ve given the place a price guide of about $1.5 million to $1.6 million, but being such a rare property I’m almost as lost as anyone as to what price it could go for,” he said.
The 356sq m block is just 300m from the beach in a neighbourhood where the median house price is $1.935 million.
In its current layout, as well as the one bedroom, the pint-sized property has a lounge room, a sunroom, dining room, kitchen and bathroom.
Mr Romano said the same owner had lived in the property for 43 years, but before that the history of the shack is relatively unknown.
“We know that it is an original fisherman’s cottage from the turn of last century. There were lots of them in the area back then, it used to be quite working class — not like it is today,” he said.
If redeveloped, the beachside block could have ocean views to Wedding Cake Is overlooking the picturesque Waverley Cemetary.
The deceased estate will go to auction on Saturday June 7 at 2pm.
