Aqualand Australia takes Rabbitohs sponsorship to a whole new level
Forget T-shirts, water bottles and branded merchandise. Developer Aqualand Australia is taking sponsorship to the next level. It plans to give a new apartment away at an upcoming NRL game.
Most team sponsors settle for giving away some branded merchandise to loyal fans — T-shirts, hats, water bottles, flags and the like.
But developer Aqualand Australia has taken its sponsorship of the South Sydney Rabbitohs to a whole new level — it is planning to give away a Lavender Bay apartment at the Rabbitohs versus St George Illawarra Dragons game on July 26.
And the best thing is you don’t even have to be a dyed-in-the wool Souths fan to be in the running, although Aqualand and Rabbitohs staff and their immediate families are not allowed to enter.
Aqualand is the major home partner of the Rabbitohs, and is offering Sydney NRL fans the chance to win an apartment in its Blue at Lavender Bay development.
The prize is worth more than $1 million and will include an unfurnished one-bedroom apartment at Blue at Lavender Bay. Stamp duty costs will also be paid for by the developer.
Alex Adams, Aqualand’s head of sales and marketing, said the competition was already proving popular. And that’s an understatement.
“We have had over 500 entries in 30 minutes from going live, so who knows where this will end,” he said.
“We were excited about presenting the opportunity for absolutely anybody to have a chance to live the Aqualand life at our iconic Blue at Lavender Bay.”

The competition is free to enter. Fans are required to register online and share and encourage their friends to enter, as well as follow the Aqualand social media accounts.
The more friends you get to enter, the more points you earn.
The four highest point scorers over the next four weeks will win the opportunity to participate in an on field competition to win the apartment.
This competition will include an obstacle course, and Mr Adams said the winner of that stage would have the opportunity to move onto the next round, for the opportunity to win the apartment.
The competition opened today and will close on July 23. You can enter here.
Blue at Lavender Bay is under construction and will include 129 one, two and three-bedroom apartments.
The site at 61 Lavender St, was once home to an 18-level commercial office building, and was bought by Aqualand in 2016 for $140 million.
Mr Adams said the development was selling “extremely well”, with less than 40 apartments left to be sold.
There are a mix of apartments still left, including one, two and three-bedroom homes, priced from $1 million.
