A SURRY HILLS real-estate agency is rallying behind a charity set to change the lives of those who have lost the ability to walk.

After suffering a spinal injury during a football game in 2008, Josh Clift was told he would never walk again, but three weeks later he left hospital on his own two feet. However, a car accident three months later caused further damage to Mr Clift’s spine, leaving him an incomplete quadriplegic.

Since then, Mr Clift’s friends have formed the Kiss the Frog Foundation to raise money to support Mr Clift and others with similar injuries.

Mark Foy, co-principal of Belle Property Surry Hills and a good friend of Mr Clift, together with his business partner Charles Touma, are launching a month-long silent auction to help raise money for the charity.

“This year we want to raise the $250,000 required for Josh to purchase a wheelchair-modified vehicle that will provide him with day-to-day independence,” said Mr Foy.

The prize will be a commission-free property sale.

“By offering our professional services free of charge as the auction prize, we have the opportunity to raise a lot of money for Josh while also giving a local homeowner the chance to sell for the equivalent of a reduced fee. It’s a win-win for everyone,” he said.

The silent auction comes after the October 22 inaugural charity cycling race and golfing tournament Tour de Frog in the Hunter Valley at which more than $100,000 was raised for Mr Clift.

Bidders can participate in the auction by calling Mark on 0402 774 974 for more information and emailing him their best offer at mark.foy@belleproperty.

com by December 1. The minimum first bid is $10,000.

The commission on a $1.5 million property is approximately $30,000. The auction winner will have two years to list their home. They must live within 15km of the CBD and will need to cover the marketing costs, as per normal, for their campaign.
