A real estate agency has put the pedal to the metal in the race to attract sellers in the burgeoning and competitive housing market.

Brett Mason and Paul Considine, will throw the keys of their 2009 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spider to anyone that lists and sells their house with the business.

Mr Mason said the idea was four years in the making.

"I have always thought outside the box and since most real estate companies offer the same old same old, I wanted to and have always led the way. I then thought the office needs to be high performance and along with that the sellers needed to experience high performance and have an amazing experience at or before settlement. That's when the Lamborghini came to mind," he said.

Mr Mason, who owns Harcourts North Lakes, with Mr Considine, said the response from locals, and staff, had been great.

"We have just launched it and the talk so far has been better than expected with calls and Facebook posts," he said.

There are of course, some conditions when getting behind the wheel of the super car, which retailed at $475,000 brand new, but Mr Mason said he had no reservations in handing over the keys to his clients.

"There are age restrictions being 25-years and older, current full license and I will make sure they have the confidence to drive or for some that wish to be driven or picked up from work, dropped off to friends in Brisbane region, we will do that," Mr Mason said.

Real Estate Institute of Queensland Chairman Rob Honeycombe said there was shortage of properties for sale in the Brisbane market, leading agents to trail different methods of marketing themselves to potential sellers.

"Agents are looking for ways to stand out from the crowd. It's a fairly competitive market and agents are doing something fresh and different," Mr Honeycombe said.

He said the challenge for agents was to find a way to make their clients properties stand out in the marketplace.

They are not the only agents to think outside the box when it comes to trying to get listings.
